What makes an event especially memorable and personal to not only your guests, but more importantly, the parents-to-be? In my opinion, it’s really all about the small details that will add that extra special element. Whether it be a unique theme, custom cake, or childhood photos, there are countless ways to incorporate personal touches to the design and decor of any special occasion.
Our most recent baby shower at the lounge space in Manhattan’s Trump Place (Upper West Side) this past Saturday was chock-full of personalized detail elements! The host, a friend of the parents-to-be, contacted Baby Showers Inc. to plan an ‘It’s a Girl’ vintage travel themed couple’s shower. This unique theme was especially fun to work with and we came up with a ton of creative ways to incorporate personal details into all elements of the design.
A welcome table is to a great way to set the tone of an event and introduce the theme. For our vintage travel baby shower, we set up a small table at the entryway, displaying a custom welcome sign, globe, hot air balloon images and flower arrangements to match the color scheme. This table is also a perfect place to put favors for guests to take at the end of the event. We ordered elegant (and delicious!) macaroon favors from Antoinette Boulangerie to match the color scheme.
Vintage suitcases were the perfect multi-functional prop. We set up several vignettes with these fabulous suitcases to display old childhood photos of the parents-to-be. We also used the inside of the suitcases for guests to put their luggage tag cards with ‘Advice for Mom & Dad’ and ‘Wishes for Baby’.
The travel theme was also incorporated into the cake design and dessert table complete with custom napkins and signage!
It’s always a good idea to have a showcase element to highlight the theme of an event. For our vintage travel baby shower, we found this adorable, handmade hot air balloon prop from BirdseyeBlue! It was absolutely perfect for the event and big hit with the guests!
This shower was a big success and the parents-to-be were thrilled with all the personal details and custom elements! Integrating these features in creative ways for any occasion will make it even more special and your guests will remember it for years to come!
